I had a question from someone telling me about how they used to use fertility awareness but don’t anymore since they are post-menopausal. BUT she was curious if she could perhaps still use fertility awareness to check her progesterone levels since she heard that could be implicated in weight gain.
This is a really interesting question because the answer gives you a clue about how useful and versatile fertility signs can be – regardless of whether you are currently cycling or post-menopausal.

Has charting your cycles alerted you to anything being “off”? Let me know in the comments.

I’ve been charting since June, when I’ve finished taking HBC continuous for almost five years (Mercilon Conti). Noticed I’ve gained weight because of this + stress + bad eating + little exercises. Now I’m eating even better each month and getting better at exercises, which I’m doing everyday now – since November 2013 until a month ago I was doing it twice a week. And I can’t lose a single pound. I’m taking metformin for PCOS. And I don’t know who I am while ovulating. Because I’ve never ovulated since I stopped the HBC – I’m taking good care of my foods and emotional life. And before that I’ve never knew me ovulating, had depression many times, and couldn’t think about it. I guess this is the first time in my life that I miss this part of my “womanness”.

Have you tried a PCOS specific diet? You can find some really good info in the Period Repair Manual (book) or at http://pcosdiva.com
Sometimes getting off the pill can spur the PCOS on in some people. For some people it’s very related to insulin resistance, so dietary changes can help pretty quickly!
Exercise also helps with insulin sensitivity, so I’m so that will help you, as well.
