Do you ever feel bad about taking care of yourself?
For you it may be taking that extra time you need to do your thing.
Spending extra money on healthy food or some kind of program or service you need.
Not associating with people who aren’t good for you anymore.
Etc., etc.
Why is it so hard for us to put ourselves first sometimes, and not worry about the people who make us feel bad about spending some extra time, money, and loving on ourselves?
It’s such an important topic especially in relation to the sympto-thermal method of fertility awareness and cycle health. Here’s why:
- Some parts of your cycle you are more wired to think of others above yourself (hellllo ovulation) and others if you try to behave in the same way you have problems (hello PMS).
- If you don’t think you deserve to care for your health and take some time out of your day for it, chances are you aren’t going to be happy using fertility awareness as birth control (and of course it might not be right for you as birth control, but if you do want to use it I’d recommend feeling comfortable investing in yourself).
Today’s video covers why it’s so important, how it’s so easily overlooked, and why you should never feel bad about taking care of yourself.
I want to hear from you. What is your favorite way to take care of yourself, or what do you skimp on that you know you should be doing? Let me know in the comments.

I just posted this on the Sweetening The Pill Facebook page with the comment “Love Hannah Ransom’s #FertileFriday video: https://holistichormonalhealth.com/dont-neglect-yourself/. It relates to STP because hormonal birth control flattens out the cycle and keeps us going like Energizer Bunnies at times when we may need to stop and care for ourselves.”
To care for myself I like to…
–drink hot lemon water while reading an uplifting book or even just something for fun (currently reading James Dashner’s THE MAZE RUNNER trilogy)
–jump on the rebounder for at least 20 min while either talking on the phone or catching up on a favorite show
–drink probiotics (Kefir)
–drink water or juice with Bragg unfiltered apple cider vinegar
–meditate
–deep breathe at least three breaths before a meal
–eat fresh pure food
I plan to do three of these things today.

Ohh.. That sounds AMAZING, Kristin. As is often the case, I write about things I need to do myself and I am definitely feeling the need for movement, sunlight, fresh air, and good food. I think I need to get off the computer :)
