One of my main takeaways when I started charting my cycles was really seeing how different I felt during different phases of my cycle.
There was a little more to it than just noticing the differences, though…
When I felt grumpy pre-menstrually (aka “PMS”), I realized I just needed to not engage in the activities I was trying to hang onto during my whole cycle.
When I felt like I didn’t want to do anything on my period I listened to myself and just chilled (and often got neat ideas or insights around things I was working on and thinking about).
When I felt like staying up super late working because I was on a work-binge I just did it. And realized this happens from time to time when I’m most energetic (around ovulation and just after, for me!).
All in all, it’s been so valuable in terms of my moods but I also feel that the more I work with my cycles the better my hormonal health seems to get. You may experience that something as simple as taking a day off during your period turns around a hormonal health issue, or you may see only tiny benefits, but I find being aware of your cycle stages can help you with both your health and reaching your full potential tremendously.
Because of that, I brought on Barabara Hanneloré in today’s (first!) podcast. Barabara works with women around understanding and connecting to their cycles and wrote a book on the very subject called The Moon and You. I love her simple and laid-back approach to the subject and think you will, too.
Check out today’s podcast to hear:
♥ What women benefit most from learning about their cycles.
♥ The first step to take if you want to start tuning into your cycles.
♥ Why we can think about our cycles as “bad” or a detriment to us (and why we shouldn’t!).
♥ How our cycle helps us avoid burnout.
♥ Why you shouldn’t worry too much about about fitting in with the way other people experience their cycles.

I’m trying to listen to the podcast and when you switch over to talking with Barbara, I can’t hear anything she’s saying. :( I can hear the comments that you give, but nothing from her.
Is it my computer or the podcast? :(

Hey Abby!
The recording is perfect when I play it from the podcast player. Definitely both of us. Is there any chance one of your speakers or headphones is broken? When I listen I notice that my voice is in my right ear and hers is in my left. Maybe? Hopefully we can get it figured out.

Hi Hannah!
Well done! I am super proud of you and I thank you and Barbara for sharing your time, energy, and knowledge with us! (The recording came in loud and clear for me)
You are an inspiration.
I look forward to continuing to learn and growth from you and all that you give.
Stay well,
JJ

I never really have the time or space to listen to podcast and i like reading more then listening (usually don’t remember anything then). Is there a way you can next time write it down too?

I’m working on it. I have the limited bandwidth of a one person (me!) team right now, but I know a couple people want transcripts so I will definitely be doing it (hopefully soon).
